THE NORTHAM FLYING FIFTY WEEKEND
April 6th – 7th 2013
Dear Club Member,
You are cordially invited to participate in the 2013 Northam Flying Fifty Weekend of motor-sport. On Saturday 6th April there will be the modern-permit Mt Ommanney Hill-climb in the morning, and in the afternoon there will be the spectacular TSOA Autokhana on Minson Avenue at Bernard Park. On Sunday the 7th there will be the iconic “round the houses” Northam Flying Fifty, restricted , to CAMS 5th Category cars, and some invited guests. This event will also be a round of the 2013 CAMS WA Historic Regularity Drivers Championship, to be run over several rounds during 2013. Please read the enclosed Supplementary Regulation for all events carefully, in conjunction with the VSCCWA Standing Regulations 2013, and the 2013 CAMS WA Historic Regularity Drivers Championship Standing Regulations. All of the above events will be multi-club permit so that any member of a CAMS-affiliated Club can enter but preference will be given to VSCCWA Club members, to entrants from the Sports Car Builders Club of W.A, and to members of the TSOA with eligible cars.
Because there was some delay in getting the necessary approvals, we have left issue of these documents to very late: there is not much time to the CLOSING DATE OF 27thFebruary, SO GET YOUR ENTRY IN STRAIGHT AWAY.
On the Entry Form you are invited to submit a “Suggested Lap Time” (for the Round the Houses) which will be considered with other data, such as the 130% speed differential for your fields and the Regularity requirement to not exceed 85% of “race speed”, to arrive at a lap time which will be nominated for you. The purpose of this exercise is to reduce the time required between the end of practice and the beginning of competition for altered data to be inputted to the Timing computer. As always, you will have the opportunity after practice to alter you nominated time, via consultation with your team leader. I urge you to submit sensible times, as the task of dealing with data for ~120 drivers is Herculean in nature, and you know that, in the end, times will need to be acceptable to CAMS Officials.
You are also asked on the Entry Form to nominate a place of Scrutiny, to better enable us to ensure sufficient resources are available. If there is sufficient interest in Albany and Bunbury regions, local scrutinys will be arranged, as for Perth, on Saturday 23rd March. For any other country entrants, scrutiny will be available on the Saturday morning at the Mt Ommanney Paddock and Sunday morning in the pits for those unable to attend any previous time. Those entering the Mt Ommanney Hillclimb and needing Saturday morning scrutiny will be assigned to a later group in the hillclimb. Firm detail will come with your acceptance of entry letter.
Shannons Insurance (one of our Club sponsors) have got a raffle going for hot laps around Barbagallo with Jim Richards in the Porsche GT2. Should you wish to be involved, mark the box on the right lower side of the entry form. By so doing, you will authorize the VSCCWA to provide your name and contact details to Shannons Insurance, who will be contacting you about their products, and placing you in the draw.
