The Shire of Northam is proud to host the 2010 Flying 50. With action packed car displays all weekend, Free Family Fun Day in the main street. With so much to see and do, Northam is the place to be on the weekend of the 27th and 28th March 2010!
Conducted by the Vintage Sports Car Club of WA the Mt Ommanney Hill Climb a Smoke Free event kicks off the weekend with single cars racing up the hill. Saturday afternoon in Minson Ave an autokhana with cars flying around witches hats, then a concert in Bernard Park. Sunday sees the streets transformed for the Around the Houses regularity Northam Flying 50 a Smoke Free event, 24 competition events featuring over 100 historic and classic racing and sports cars.
This year’s theme is the 50th Aniversary of the first Australian “Touring Car” race. These ‘tin tops’ became the country’s premier racing formula morphing progressively to the V8 Supercars of today. Many of the old ones never died and now make up large grids of Group N Historic cars and they’re just as exciting to watch as they always were.
The weekend is also celebrating the long racing career of VSCC stalwart, John Budgen who passed away recently. A short Bio on John is attached (Click Here).
