The Goomalling Flyer 2016

SUPREGS  |  ENTRY FORM

Some would fondly remember the Goomalling Flyer, last run in October 2013 – well, it’s on again.

For those who weren’t there it’s a sprint up and down the main street (Railway Terrace) of Goomalling. Totalling about 820 metres, the course ducks in and out of the historic Railway Station to end in a “garage” finish. It is a timed, round of the VSCCWA Hillclimb and Sprint Championship and entrants will get the usual trip behind the Safety Car as a sighter, a practice, and possibly four competitive runs, depending on time, number of entrants, and prevailing conditions. There will be a “come-n-try” session for those who’ve never held a CAMS Driving Licence but would like to test the waters, and all vehicles will be scrutineered in the pits area of the event on the day from 10.00am. There will be plenty of parking for trailers and tow-vehicles at the wheat-bin site adjacent. Though it is a VSCCWA Club event, entrants from other Clubs are welcome. You don’t have to be a competitor: Goomalling is situated about ½ hour North of Northam on the Toodyay – Dowerin road, accessible by a number of different routes with our start time of 11:00am allowing for a leisurely cruise through countryside magnificent at this time. This car event will be the centrepiece of the Goomalling Spring Festival, with Market Stalls, children’s entertainments, “Fiesta de la Juventud” and more. If you want to come in your classic car, special parking in Forrest St will allow it to be on supervised display. Why not make a weekend of it, and stay overnight? There’s the Council-owned Caravan Park, nestled amongst the trees next to the Memorial Swimming Pool, within easy walking distance to the town facilities and our event. A fully equipped Campers Kitchen, pergola and paved outdoor area, modern amenities building, landscaped garden and barbeque are available for use by visitors. There is also an on-site dump facility for those with caravans. You can phone on (08) 9629 1183, or email at caravanpark@goomalling.wa.gov.au for further information. Alternatively there’s the newly refurbished Goomalling Tavern, situated in Railway Terrace right at our Start Line. It will be able to offer meals and accommodation as well as the usual refreshments, and can be contacted on (08) 9629 1110. For more information about Goomalling Shire try www.visitgoomalling.com.au or the Goomalling Visitors Centre on (08) 9629 1101 email goshire@goomalling.wa.gov.au. The Sprint event is being run in VSCCWA volunteer tradition, so assistance in constructing the track (from 9:00am on Saturday 15) and packing it away after the event concludes on Saturday evening would be much appreciated. If you’re able to help please contact Randle Beavis (0428 950 813), Craig Bradtke (0408 913 926) or Ross Oxwell (9401 1449)
