June 2008
Approximately 100 members braved the rain and the cold to attend the June General Meeting. Once again the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly with members enjoying the chance to catch up with friends over a quiet drink in the Happy Hour before the formalities of the evening commenced.
A positive sign for the future of the Club is the number of new members who have joined in the last two months; six in May and four in June.
The meeting basked in the success of the “Albany Classic Weekender” and a framed poster was presented to the Club by the Mayor of Albany in appreciation of the role the VSCC played in staging the event.
Rod Waller donated a plaque depicting the layout of the “D” circuit and some of the cars that competed in the ‘57 AGP. Rod would like this plaque to be signed by the VSCC members who drove or officiated at Caversham. Once this is done it will be displayed in the meeting hall.

It gave us great pleasure to name the workshop after Don Hall. Don has been a stalwart of the VSCC in the past and continues to assist with the running of workshops in the present. The naming of this building is recognition of his long and positive association with the Club.

Meets on the second Tuesday of each month starting at 9.00pm
This group is growing in numbers and enthusiasm. On Tuesday ten members spent the morning enjoying the cameraderie while working with like-minded enthusiasts, finishing up with a barbeque lunch. The current projects include restoration of the Club van, setting up the machine shop, developing the grounds around the building, painting, taking an inventory of the Club property, setting up the library, assisting with electrical work……. and much more.
The donations made to help with the establishment of the Clubhouse are amazing; memorabilia to put on display, tools, machinery, paint, cleaning materials, books, photos and money are just some of the things that have been given to us over the last few months.
A pie warmer, air compressor and small portable generator are needed. If you can help, contact Paul Wilkins on 0428922823.

The organization of this meeting is well underway. The event will be open to VSCC members and their families, as well as members of like-minded motoring clubs.
As the name suggests this will be a low key family event where families will be able to enjoy a picnic under the trees and participate in some motor sport.
The event will be in two parts;
  1. A one km sprint and/or regularity on the bitumen part of the “D” circuit. (Drivers will nominate a time for the km and prizes will be given for regularity and speed. If you want to go flat-out you could win both speed and regularity for your group. If you don’t want to thrash   your car you nominate a time you feel comfortable with and just go for regularity).
  2. A timed one-way motorkana on the bitumen section of the main straight.(There will be no reversing in this section).
During the day drivers will be able to drive around the “D” circuit as many times as they like participating in these two challenges. We hope they stop to enjoy the company of their families after each round.
If you can assist with the preparation and organisation of this day ring me on 93147179.
